Guilford Recreation Centre
Surrey, BC
Guildford Recreation Centre, a major Phase 1 component of a strategic master plan for the Surrey site, was completed for a total cost of $10.7 million in 2001. The project incorporated an expanded existing library (now 35,000 S.F.) within the much larger recreation complex which was conceived to appear as a single building. Several striking design features give this well-received multi-purpose centre a commanding community presence and focus. The project was managed by Brian Hulme and designed by Peter Rayher and received the BC Parks and Recreation Association's 2003 "Facility of Excellence" Award.
