Richmond Cultural Centre is a 95,000 sq.ft. community facilityaccommodating a 56,000 sq.ft. library, plus a museum, arts centre, artgallery and archives. Under a design team lead by Peter Rayher, the projectwas constructed in 1993 for the City of Richmond for $13.6 million. Locatedwithin a precinct of public facilities adjacent to the former City Hall, thedesign sought to link various other existing components by means of acovered walkway radiating from a central gazebo. The elegant doubleentrance rotunda serves as a central organizing and arrival/orientationelement that was very well received by the client upon completion.
